When I grow up I want to be a Cowgirl
This piece is an 18” x 24” oil painting in a custom frame.
“When I grow up I want to be a Cowgirl” comes from the dreams I had as a kid to ride horses and be a “cowgirl”. I didn’t grow up on a ranch, I didn’t ride horses from a young age, I didn’t have parents who were deeply connected to the ranching community, but I had a dream of being a powerful and driven woman, and as a little girl that came to me in the vision of being a cowgirl. And still, when I grow up I would like to be a cowgirl and all she means.
This oil painting is set in a nocturnal scene, as a dream of dream, the deep blues and complex layering of color and value create a piece that beautifully contrasts its handmade wooden frame.
